'Tis not too late to make a better world." - Tommy Douglas Campaign for a Defibrillator for Queen/Spadina areaMarilyn is raising $4,000 for a defibrillator for the Queen St./Spadina area. More defibrillators are needed throughout our province to save lives. You too can make your goal of $4,000 and fundraise for a defibrillator in your area. More information about defibrillators will be posted here. In the meantime, you can call Marilyn at the store for fundraising ideas, or request information from the Heart & Stroke Foundation. New Circles Community ServicesMarilyn's is a drop off centre for New Circles Community Services. If you have gently used clothing, bring it to Marilyn's (200 Spadina Avenue, North of Queen). You can also use Marilyn's Closet Organizer to help you sort through what you have. Donate Your Used GlassesDon't leave your old glasses lying in a drawer. Hakim Optical and Lions Clubs International are partnering together to provide used eyeglasses to needy people in developing countries. Please drop your old eyeglasses off at any Hakim Optical in Canada; they will be shipped to developing countries, where qualified Optometrists and Ophthalmologists will examine and fit them to the needy. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of TorontoShawn's Miracle FundShawn's Miracle Fund benefits Brain Tumor Research at Princess Margaret Hospital. Any amount donated to Shawn's Miracle Fund at Princess Margaret Hospital will be appreciated. To donate, call 416.946.6560 and tell them it is for Shawn's Miracle Fund or visit the online donation form. Second HarvestSecond Harvest is looking for donations in two specific areas: food and funds. Second Harvest accepts food that is still wholesome, but not saleable.
