Campaign for a Defibrillator for Queen/Spadina area

Marilyn is raising $4,000 for a defibrillator for the Queen St./Spadina area. More defibrillators are needed throughout our province to save lives. You too can make your goal of $4,000 and fundraise for a defibrillator in your area.

More information about defibrillators will be posted here. In the meantime, you can call Marilyn at the store for fundraising ideas, or request information from the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

1. Silent Auction: Two Canadian Loon Watch (certified by the Royal Canadian Mint) are available, retail value $150. Includes certificate of authenticity and 5 year guarantee. Starting bid is $50.

Purchase an autographed copy of Lifeliner by Shireen Jeejeeboy at Marilyn's, and $3 from each book will go toward the defibrillator fund.

Purchase an autographed copy of Laws of the Jungle: Dating for Women Over 40 by Gloria MacDonald at Marilyn's, and proceeds will go toward the defibrillator fund.

Purchase an autographed copy of the 7 Pitfalls of Single Parenting by Carolyn B. Ellis at Marilyn's, and part of the proceeds from each book will go toward the defibrillator fund.

Newcomer Women's (NEW) Services

Newcomer Women's Services Toronto- community services for immigrant and refugee women. Their mission is to provide these women and their families with guidance, encouragement, and the tools they need to settle in Canada. Programs and services include: English Language Instruction, Child-minding Program, Employment Assistance Program, and Settlement Services. www.newcomerwomen.org 416.469.0196.

Marilyn's is a drop off centre for New Comer Women's Services. If you have gently used clothing, bring it to Marilyn's (200 Spadina Avenue, North of Queen). You can also use Marilyn's Closet Organizer to help you sort through what you have.

Donate Your Used Glasses

Don't leave your old glasses lying in a drawer. Hakim Optical and Lions Clubs International are partnering together to provide used eyeglasses to needy people in developing countries.

Please drop your old eyeglasses off at any of ourHakim Optical's over 100 locations; they will be shipped to developing countries, where qualified Optometrists and Ophthalmologists will examine and fit them to the needy.

Shawn's Miracle Fund

Shawn's Miracle Fund benefits Brain Tumor Research at Princess Margaret Hospital. Any amount donated to Shawn's Miracle Fund at Princess Margaret Hospital will be appreciated. To donate, call 416.946.6560 and tell them it is for Shawn's Miracle Fund or visit the online donation form.

Second Harvest

Second Harvest is looking for donations in two specific areas: food and funds. Second Harvest accepts food that is still wholesome, but not saleable. They will pick up donations of left-over food as long as it has been stored properly and has not been served or plated.
